Li Kuiwen said that since the beginning of this year, despite the challenges of the global spread of COVID-19, shrinking international market demand and the rise of unilateralism and protectionism, China's foreign trade has withstood the pressure, achieved positive growth in the first three quarters and steadily increased its international market share. At the same time, China's foreign trade has also made new progress in high-quality development, mainly in the following aspects:
first, the product base is stable and the trade mode continues to be optimized. in the first three quarters, the import and export of general trade with a longer industrial chain and better reflecting the development level of manufacturing industry reached 13.92 trillion yuan, an increase of 2.1%, and the proportion increased by 0.8 percentage points to 60.2% compared with the same period last year. In the same period, the import and export of processing trade decreased by 6.4% and the proportion decreased by 1.8 percentage points.
Second, the endogenous driving force is strengthened, and the leading role of private enterprises is prominent. in the first three quarters, the import and export of China's private enterprises increased by 10.2%, accounting for 4 percentage points, reaching 46.1%, becoming the largest foreign trade business entity in China.
Third, the gradient transfer has been effective, and the proportion of the central and western regions has increased. the all-round opening-up process of the central and western regions has accelerated, and new progress has been made in undertaking the industrial transfer from the East, becoming an important force in stabilizing China's foreign trade development. In the first three quarters, China's foreign trade import and export to the western region reached 3.91 trillion yuan, an increase of 8.3%, accounting for 1.2 percentage points higher than the same period last year, reaching 16.9%.
Fourth, the vitality of development has been enhanced, and the development of new forms of foreign trade has accelerated. China's state-owned business environment has been continuously optimized, and the vitality of market players has been continuously stimulated. The new forms and models of foreign trade represented by cross-border e-commerce have injected new momentum into the development of foreign trade. In the first three quarters, the import and export through the customs cross-border e-commerce management platform reached 187.39 billion yuan, an increase of 52.8%; the market procurement and export reached 509.86 billion yuan, an increase of 35.5%.
